In honor of Portland General Electric’s (PGE) paperless bill customers, PGE is donating $20,000 to four nonprofit environmental groups. When you sign up for the PGE Paperless Bill option you can vote to help direct a portion of the donation to the Clackamas River Basin Council (CRBC). Each organization will receive a portion of the $20,000 based on the percentage of votes it receives. Not only is switching to paperless billing a sustainable option, it can help protect the Clackamas River watershed. The donation is entirely funded by PGE shareholders and does not affect the price you pay for electricity.
This Pick Paperless, Help Habitat promotion begins July 1, 2008 and ends August 15, 2008. If you are already signed up for the paperless option you can still vote online. So don’t forget to sign up and vote for the Clackamas River Basin Council (CRBC)! Your vote counts and will help the Clackamas River Basin Council continue its mission to foster partnerships for clean water and to improve fish and wildlife habitat and the quality of life for those who live, work, and recreate in the watershed.
Sign up and vote starting
July 1st until August 15th at: www.PortlandGeneral.com/Paperless

Pesticides are commonly used in schools, parks, yards, gardens, farms, and along roads to kill unwanted pests. Often after heavy rains, stormwater runoff becomes a highway for the transport of pesticides, allowing them to enter our waterways. A multi-year study recently released by the US Geological Survey detected the presence of numerous pesticides within the Clackamas River basin. Even though pesticides are far below human health benchmarks, their presence is a warning sign. The time is to act now before it develops into a BIG problem. For more information about how you can reduce your pesticide use please click here.
